Messages from the Other Side: Inside a Reading with Sarah Lemos

From TV to true connection Sarah Lemos of Ghosts of Morgan City gives tips to healing through spirit

You might know her from the hit show Ghosts of Morgan City, but Sarah Lemos’s real magic happens off-camera with her students and clients. From personal readings to ongoing classes and powerful group sessions, Sarah helps people find healing through spiritual connection.

As a fan of the paranormal since I was a child, I have always been intrigued by Louisiana legends, folklore, tales of the Rougarou, and the ghost stories that seem to haunt every corner of our state. In 2019, Ghosts of Morgan City was released by The Travel Channel and I tuned in to watch every episode. Sarah Lemos, psychic medium and investigator, was part of the team with Ben Hansen and Jereme Leonard who investigated several beautiful and intriguing locations throughout St. Mary Parish. Each location seemed to be plagued with unexplainable events. For anyone who loves southeastern Louisiana, this series puts you up close and personal with the people, the culture, and some of the legends of our state.

It was right around the onset of the pandemic in July of 2020 when I found out that Sarah, whom I now call a personal friend, actually offers classes and readings as well as her investigative appearances on paranormal series. I immediately signed up for her signature class Pathways to Spirit to begin a year long journey to learn more about not only myself, but uncover ways that I can use my own gifts and talents in everyday life. I was part of her second class of graduates who studied everything from chakras, healthy ways to manage stress, and find a community of folks who are spiritually in tune with becoming better versions of themselves.

Last year, the first ever Cajun Country ParaCon was held in downtown New Iberia. It was a new feat for the team at Louisiana Spirits, but each chapter of members across the state dug in and pulled off a fantastic event.

I sat down last month with Sarah Lemos in preparation for her appearance at Cajun Country ParaCon in April at Vermilionville. We talked about all things paranormal, including her television appearances, what it means to her to be a psychic medium, and she offered some tips for those who may be curious about speaking to one.

We dug into her journey as a psychic medium, what inspires her, and how her programs offer more than just insight—they offer hope. I wanted to share this article with those of you who may be curious about getting a reading with a psychic mediums. I asked Sarah a few questions about her mediumship skills and here's what she said.

How Did You Become a Full Time Psychic Medium?

It was about six years ago when Sarah met Ben Hansen on a ghost hunting cruise with several paranormal celebs and investigators. She was working two full time jobs and practicing her medium and psychic abilities part time. After the cruise with Ben, he was so impressed with her gifts and how she worked with those seeking readings, he asked her to be part of the team. She never thought that meant TV though! It was through this chance encounter with Ben that lead her to film Ghosts of Morgan City. After filming this series, it lead her to more television shows including Portals to Hell with Jack Osborne and Katrina Weidman, Conjuring Kesha, and Ghost Town Terror seasons 1 and 2.

What Does It Mean to You to Be a Psychic Medium?

As a psychic medium, my job is to give a voice to your spirit guides and loved ones on the other side. I am here to speak for them, not place any judgement or blame and shame. I promised myself early on that I was not coming from a place of judging others but rather coming from a place of light, love, and personal connection. My messages will offer personal evidence that I am communicating with loved ones on the other side. I get the message and share it. I love helping people and connecting them to the messages they are meant to hear.

I base my programs and offerings on helping people heal, and finding modalities and tools that allow them to do that in their own way. I present the knowledge and education I have learned over years of my own personal practice and study, and share that with my clients and students. What may be a best practice for one person may not be for someone else. But I focus on educating my students so they have the choice to take what they identify with and continue learning and honoring their spiritual gifts.

What Advice Can You Give to Someone Who May Want to Get a Reading?

Do your homework. Be sure to research the medium and look at reviews, their websites and/or social media. Also, not all mediums are psychic, so make sure you understand the difference. Mediums deal with karma and personal stories where psychics will be able to bring evidence to your personal story or situations you may be seeking answers on. It's really important that you feel safe and comfortable talking openly with the person giving you a reading. It's a very personal journey and can be a lot of work for the person getting the reading. It's can be emotional and healing for many and I provide a safe environment for all who seek my services, whether that be through education or readings with me.

Cajun Country ParaCon was held this year at Vermilionville in Lafayette, Louisiana, offering more workshops, meet and greets, shopping with artisans and craft vendors, and the chance to explore the historic living museum of Acadian homes that makes up Vermilionville. Another new feature added to this year's event was a Gallery Reading with Psychic Medium Sarah Lemos. It's at events like this where Sarah thrives meeting new people, hugging old friends, and bringing her light and positive spirit to all those who know her.

Sarah absolutely loves the state of Louisiana, it's people, and the stories of our state. Morgan City holds a special place in her heart and she comes back to visit whenever possible. As she said to me, this place holds nothing but magic and mystery. She welcomes the opportunity to answer questions, offer readings, and get to know more about one of her favorite places, here in the heart of Cajun country.

If you missed out on the chance to meet Sarah this year at Cajun Country Para Con, or you're interested in getting a reading, or learning more about her clases, you can still connect with her in other ways.
